Our Mission
Our mission at re•sil•ience Acupuncture & Sports Medicine is to provide our patients with an integrated and holistic approach to medical stability. We do not fix disease, rather problems by directing our patient's central nervous system to achieve homeostasis (equal circulation and cell communication) by using tried, tested and scientifically proven methods. re•sil•ience defines the end results we are helping each patient achieve, which is, our own ability to recover readily from injury, illness, depression, adversity, maladaptation or the like.
Applying medical principals derived from Traditional Chinese Medicine including Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine; Functional Medicine; Sports Medicine and Applied Kinesiology (MFT): we are able to consider each patient individually in order to determine a treatment plan that will encourage each individual body to correct itself and achieve the desired outcome we agree is medically necessary. Our Story
How we got to Stowe, VT...
November 8, 2018 will be a day that Ryan, Jennifer, their two children, Brady & Morgan & their best friend & dog, Nova will never forget. It was a day that changed their lives forever. That morning, they were taken by surprise with a catastrophic disaster, the Paradise, CA Camp Fire. What started as fire that was far away quickly spread and destroyed the entire town of Paradise, CA. Their home, clinic and town were wiped off the map in less than 12 hours. This was the most severe destruction that has ever been recorded in California fire history.
Following was their forced initiation of resilience. They were placed in a position to remain broken or make a change. They had no idea where they were going to live or land. With great togetherness and team work they identified the life they wanted to live, going forward. However, where remained unknown. Ryan is a native to New England and Jennifer from Pennsylvania. With great awareness, intent and random suggestion from a family friend, Ryan and Jennifer were led to Stowe on a last minute two day trip. Their blind visit to Stowe allowed for immediate acceptance within the community and natural beauty. Stowe allowed for their relocation & to heal following a complete loss. After this needed process, their dedication to continue sharing their families vision and professionalism resulted in the birth of re•sil•ience Acupuncture & Sports Medicine.
Meet theTeam...
Ryan J. Cashman, MA, LAc, DNBAO, Dipl. OM
Diplomat of the National Board of Acupuncture Orthopedics
Ryan is a graduate of Chico State, where he received his Bachelor and Master Degree in Exercise Science. He then went on to earn his Master Of Science in Oriental Medicine at Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine.
Following a 400 hour Orthopedics Acupuncture post-graduate certification and internship service within several hospitals in China, Ryan began his professional career as a provider of Chinese Medicine in Kona, Hawaii from 2002-2007. This is where Aloha Acupuncture & Sports Medicine was established.
He became very popular quickly with the surrounding professional, lay populations and athletes in order to fill a gap in the world of modern medicine practices. The population of the clinic enjoyed increased daily functions and increased happiness within their daily living related to unresolved stressors each is faced with on a daily basis.
Drawing from his previous professional experience in Exercise Science, as a strength and conditioning coach (CSCS), he mixed that with Acupuncture & worked with several Kona Ironman Triathletes to prepare them for competition and recovery post-competition.
Ryan founded clinics in Kona, HI; Scottsdale, AZ & Paradise, CA. Ryan also worked as a primary care provider (PCP) in a busy medical clinic in California supervising pain management and many other internal and difficult to treat conditions.
Ryan has successfully treated 8K+ medical cases over his last 21 years of clinical experience with Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Exercise Science and Applied Kinesiology (MFT).
When Ryan is not in the clinic, you can find him Mountain biking, snowboarding, sledding, snow shoeing or hiking with his family and dog.

Testimonials
Ryan is an extremely knowledgeable and gifted healer!! In addition to resolving my vertigo and alignment issues quickly, he also helped me make great strides with my long-standing medical conditions. Under his care my asthma dramatically improved & my fibromyalgia completely disappeared. Thanks to Ryan I was able to return to a level of physical activity that I had not experienced in years.
Kristine (Oroville, CA)
I initially sought out acupuncture and Chinese medicine for pre-menopausal symptoms and the hope of finding an alternative to pills and procedures my gynecologist suggested. Ryan is not only very well versed in Chinese medicine, but western medical sciences and evaluation; he has extensive combined practical experience of East & West. Ryan is easy to talk to, very relatable, and has a great sense of humor, which allowed me to immediately relax and trust his advanced knowledge and intuition. After receiving truly amazing results, I rely on and trust in Ryan to provide care to my three children for various needs.
The Thomas Family (Roseville, CA)
I remember passing out since I was little. At 8 years old I was put on Beta Blockers and was under the treatment of a Pediatric Cardiologist and a Rhythm specialist. My family was grasping for anything that would keep me from ambulance rides when we found Ryan Cashman. My parents were skeptical but we were all willing to do anything for me to be stable. My treatments from Ryan changed my life. Since being treated by him, I have not passed out, and my symptoms are benign. I just turned 15 and am an athlete and regular kid thanks to my treatments! Not only did he help with my heart condition, he helped when I was sick with the common cold and helped with the anxiety left from not being able to trust my heart. One time he felt my pulse and asked if I had recently had a specific medical procedure. It amazes me that he could feel that in my pulse! He knows the science of acupuncture and couples it with the art of being a true healer.
Since Ryan moved from Northern California, I have not been able to find an acupuncturist to control my symptoms as well as Ryan. My mom joked that we would fly across the United States for treatments. I know she was only half way kidding.
Devin (Chico, CA)
I am a weekend Vermont visitor of over 30 years. In September, 2018, while suffering with water in my right knee, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. The Montreal rheumatologist , with 40 years experience, put me on a program of weekly Methotrexate injections. This was probably, the end of my aggressive skiing, biking, scuba diving, and hiking.
By chance, in January 2019, I went to see Ryan to discuss my persistent swollen knee situation. Even with the weekly injection my knee persistently bothered me.
During my very first visit, Ryan suggested "Rheumatoid Arthritis is not the correct diagnosis of your current knee complaint". I was in shock. I decided to continue the injections till my March appointment , but roughly reduce the dosage in half.
At my March doctor's appointment, the Montreal rheumatologist reconfirmed his diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis. He claimed that if I reduced or stopped the injections, my joints would again swell up and fill with fluid. He claimed, I would do permanent damage to my body joints. On my insistence, he reluctantly reduced the Chemo dosage by 25% and told me to return in 2 months.
At my next visit with Ryan, he again confirmed his call "NO Rheumatoid Arthritis in knee". He again emphasized, that he is not an MD and I should follow my doctor's prescription orders. Two weeks later, I stopped my injections. It's been 7 months, and I feel great. I never returned to the Montreal rheumatologist.
With acupuncture, a change of diet, nutritional testing and daily stretching, I hardly notice my knee problem any longer.
Thank you Ryan.
Richard (Stowe)
I first approached Ryan for help with a persistent shoulder injury. Having little experience with acupuncture, he guided me through the process, explaining each step as he treated me. I’m now pain free and have continued acupuncture with Ryan for overall wellness.
Boom!
Ryan "T-Bo" (Stowe)
"I've experienced a combination of orthopedic issues since childhood and athletic issues for nearly the past decade. Ryan has been a great bridge to identifying and treating me, resulting in my feeling better both in the long term and short term. He's professional and goal-oriented. Ryan’s background, training and continuing education combined with his ability to listen, diagnose, treat with compassion and without judgement is just what I've been looking for. Welcome to the neighborhood!"
